Here we are again back at CREATIVE CARAVAN’S & Ian Grant’s Caravans to see Michael, Emma, Kylie, staff to organize our second “Grant Tourer Highlander”. But this time it is bigger and with a few different features to this Custom Built Van. Firstly we were so very happy with Creative being so willing and happy to build us a custom van to suit our needs and requirements.

Our first Grant Tourer Highlander Van we had built was awesome, we just loved it. But with living in it every day as we travelled our way all around Australia we realized it was just a bit small and needed to have an ensuite. So after 2 ½ years loving our first van, it was time to get the new one happening. So we flew to Melbourne where Sarah from Ian Grants Caravans and Kylie from Creative were there to pick us up and take us to their factory to finalise what we wanted in our second van. The service from start to finish was sensational. Sarah bent over backwards to help us as did the awesome crew at Creative. From this alone, we will always come back to get any future vans built.

It all starts with a 6” G & S Chassis with extended draw bar, tandem “Control Rider Suspension” which we then supplied the 16×8” Vilan Rims with 275/70/16 BF Goodrich All terrain Tyres. Comes standard with 3500kg Highland Hitch, 2 x 9kg Gas Bottles, 2 x Jerry Can Holders & Front Aluminium Checker Plate Tool Box. 3 x 85 watt Solar Panels, 2 x 100amp Batteries with Electro Charger, Ibis low profile Air conditioner, Reversing Camera, Slide out BBQ, & Drop Down Table & drop down step.
On the inside we have 2 x Leather Recliner Chairs with leather Map Pockets {which we absolutely love for comfort & accessibility} with a pull out table. We supplied a Wine Cooler {gotta keep those wines chilled ready for hydration J} and Creative added to that a down light shining onto a Wine Glass Rack just above the wine cooler…Love it!! We have a full size 230ltr compressor fridge/freezer from Vitrifrigo {this fridge is so icy cold on only ¼ setting. We have a full size oven with griller and 4 burner cook top {3 Gas & 1 Electric} a beautiful corner sink, microwave and full size pull out pantry with soft close, Kenwood Stereo which can be enjoyed from both inside and out with the external speakers. We also supplied a 24” LED Flat Screen TV/DVD combo with satellite system and hard drive built in to be able to tape any TV shows we don’t want to miss or tape one while watching another. Queen size lift up bed, 12v Rain Sensor Hatch, Full Size Ensuite with Shower, Separate Toilet, Top Loader Washing Machine built into cupboard with pull out/drop down Laundry Basket. The whole van has ample storage space and is fitted with LED Lighting all throughout with down lighting and strip lighting. We love our bench top and colour choices throughout with the leather that the team at Creative helped us select.
The fit and finish has been great, the price is unbelievably value for money, but most of all the before and after sale service from all involved has been phenomenal.

We hope this gives you all the recognition you all deserve and a lot more orders of vans. Keep up the great work and thanks for being so willing to help us with things that haven’t been quite right, even though our van hasn’t been perfect with little problems, this hasn’t deterred us from speaking highly about your vans as your after sale service in willingness to fix things has been brilliant.

Kind Regards or love from your extended Creative family

Pros: We had looked for a new or secondhand van for over 2yrs,and was unable to find exactly what we wanted, we visited Norsman in Launceston Tasmania, stepped into a Tanami on display and our decision was made for us, it had everything we has been looking for, we have had our Tanami for 4yrs and couldn’t be happier, the only thing we have changed is replace the L shaped dinette with swivell base recliner chairs, added 2 80 watt soleo pannels and a diesel heater.
Cons: We have no dislikes
Overall: We could not be more pleased we our 21ft Tanami, Its performance has been all we hoped for and more, it looks a much more costly van than we paid for it, as you get so much more in Creative van’s for your money than you do with most other brands, after 4 yrs our van, even though we have used it extensively still looks new, as pretty as a picture, and when we show it off to someone as they stepinside it still has the ‘woha’ effect. We are still ‘wrapped’ with it.Jenny & Peter Chatwin. Thank you to everyone at Creative Caravans, Especially Kylie, we picked up our new Offroad 21’6 Grant Highlander Family van from Ian Grants Caravans and immediately took it offroad to Walhalla / Aberfeldy area’s with an overnight in Erica for testing / trying out the features which actually included using the diesel heater with the temp drop overnight and use of the three power supplies (Gen / Batt / domestic) with the auto three way power distribution controller. The extra external table turned out to be a great add on, along with the external shower for washing mud off us. All features tested correct and very happy. Our Christmas holiday at Marlo was fantastic, the van is extremely comfortable and provided us with everything we needed, Morgan (4 years old), loves her bunk space, couldnt keep her out of it and the washing machine meant we kept self sufficent and not have to worry about the amount of clothes changes children like to have or need!. Talk about turning heads, everywhere we went, people were stopping and having a good look at the van and how it was set up. Just goes to show you, the invaluable time and effort given by the Creative Team during the build phase is what sets manufacturers of vans apart, nothing was too much, even while I was overseas working, Kylie kept me upto date with the progress and ensured that all the extra’s we asked for went in as planned, nothing was too difficult. Planning next trip and all I can say is “if you are in the market for a caravan that does what you want it to do, then go Creative and enjoy the ride.
Thanks Creative.

Hi, Just a quick note to say thanking you for your input into our caravan regarding extras we required. We ordered our van through Ian Grants caravan before the 2011 caravan show but finalised it at the show when we spoke to Michael Vona in regards to extras we wanted done.
They approved the extras (metal drawer runners, piano hinges on all doors, outdoor speakers, outdoor tv entertainment box, A frame mesh, Ibis a/cond, drop down oven to enable full bench top when stove not in use, dual spare wheels etc, etc.
We picked up our van from Ian Grants on the 25/11/2011 and left 26/11/2011 for a 4 week holiday in which we covered 4900 kms, all without any problems bar a small leak in the 12 volt water pump.
This is our 3rd new van from Ian Grants and would have to be the best we have had, and as for value for money, nothing comes near the quality for the price! (23 foot van Chassis No CC1497).

We purchased a Grant Tourer Series 111 23 foot caravan from Ian Grants Caravans of Princes Highway Traralgon Victoria 12 months ago.
The caravan was hand made by Creative Caravans of Merola Way, Campbellfield Victoria. The van is a centre door variant.
The first rule of thumb in purchasing a new van is to first find a reputable dealer and you will be happy with the professional service from Grants. The second thing is to find a great caravan which offers everything at a very reasonable price and you will be very happy with a Creative Caravan.
We have travelled this great country over many years now and we have owned various brands and with no hesitation this combination is the best. We travel from Queensland to deal with Ian Grant and we always receive a good deal.
Ian and Minnie Grant have two sons Ian Jr. and Scott and because they have been in the caravan industry for many years now they know what the travelling public require and they have designed the Grant Tourer/Creative Caravan where you will find it would be one of the easiest livable vans on the road today and the biggest bonus of all is because of the professional way the van has been constructed they just DON’T LEAK WATER.
The G and S chassis is the best available in Australia and are unbreakable. When you compare these vans with what you get in them to other manufactures there is no comparison and in the unlikely event something went amiss you would ring the factory and deal with Emma who is the office manager and with Sal who is the construction manager. Nothing is a problem and you will receive the best care and attention.
If you decide on a Creative Caravan you will be very happy.

Grant Tourer Highlander

Pros: super cheap, great quality van, exceptional after-sales service
Cons: none at all
Overall: absolutely delighted with our Grant Tourer Highlander, purchased in 2008 at the caravan show. By far the best value off-road van on the market according to us, we spent 2 years researching different brands. we were permitted to see our van at the factory as it was being built which was a wonderful experience. We’ve always bought our vans from Ian Grant’s and would never go anywhere else. Best prices and truly honest, reliable people to deal with. I don’t have a bad word to say about them.

Grant Tourer Highlander

Pros: Standard features that are optional extras on all other brands; layout; build quality.
Cons: lack of HWS (although there is plenty of room for one); awning is mounted so poorly that brackets broke away from the van on first use; no after sales service (was a case of find our own repairer and submit a quote for reimbursement).
Overall: We bought the Grant Tourer Highlander (off-road) pop-top at the Melbourne caravan show in 2008. It has many things standard that are options on other vans (solar panel and controller, 2 batteries, QS bed, outside table, TV aerial output and 12 plug, HD indenendent suspension (coils not leaf springs), 6″ chassis all galvanised, 16″ rims with new tyres, etc). There are only two things I am not happy about: 1. No HWS. We were told by [name censored] that this wasn’t an option because there isn’t enough room. This is just not the case as there is plenty of room under the sink and we paid $300 for an electric hot water tap to be fitted to the sink mixer. This works really well, but draws 3.4kW so is useless when on generator power; and, 2. The top awning mounts are a 45 deg angle bracket tha sit on the top rail of the van side. For some reason these were only screwed in through the side and not the top. As a result the first time we used the awning the screws ripped out of the side of the van. When I approached Creative I was told to get a quote for teh repair and send it to them for approval. I don’t know any caravan repairers and expected they would be able to recommend one to me. In the end we fixed it ourselves and got on with our lives. Apart from that this van is fantastic: tows beautifully and is a pleasure to go away in. I highly recommend Cerative for the money.
